Infosys visited VJTI, Mumbai on 20th & 21st October, 2014.
There were only two rounds.
1st round was Aptitude test and 2nd round was Technical and HR interview.
The Aptitude was easy and but don't take it lightly.
It had 3 sections:
Every section has sectional cut-off with sectional timing.
1. Reasoning - 15 questions, 25 min.
It was quite easy. It contained syllogisms, data sufficiency, data interpretation (line graphs) , and drawing conclusions, seating arrangement like questions.
2. Quantitative Aptitude - 10 questions, 25 min.
It was also easy. It contained questions based on arithmetic, boats and streams, time and distance, geometry, volume and area.
3. Verbal ability - 40 questions, 35 min.
The most difficult questions, due to time limit was Verbal ability. Don't waste time reading passages initially, do it at last.
Out of the 192 eligible students only 64 were shortlisted for interview and I was one of them.
They called us on 21st October (next day) at 8:30 am for Interview.
Interview process started at 9:30.
They called me at 12:30. Till 12:30 I was just hanging out with my friends and It was helps me a lot in interview.
Interviewer from computer background and I'm also from computer background.
So he asked me several questions.
- Tell me about your academics?
- He had my Infosys form with all mark sheets from 10th to M. Tech. So he asked me questions related to academics only.
- Tell me your area of interest, I told coding, so he didn't asked me a single question on coding.
- He chose 1 subject from every year of B-Tech and M. Tech and asked a basic question on that subject.
- I was not confident with my answers, Interviewer was very co-operative, so be relaxed and then start answering.
- He asked me any question? I asked- Where do I need to improve myself? He told me don't focus on any particular subject, try to learn and understand each and every subject in your field.
Again he asked any other question? I said no.
After this he said, "you can go now and it was very nice talking to you".
And he stood up and we shakes hands.
I think I was not selected so they called me again for Interview.
This time HR was different, now he asked me below questions.
Me : May I come in sir,
HR : Yes Pankaj come in, So pankaj are you from computer department?
Me : Yes sir.
HR : I'm from chemical department, so you have better knowledge than me in computer.
(I think he told me this because I feel comfortable and tell him all the answers confidently).
Me : I smiled and say ok sir.
HR : Now he directly asked me about my project.
Me : I tell him whole project very confidently.
HR : What's your role in project?
Me : I did coding part.
HR: Which language have you used in your project?
Me: Told.
HR : Asked me algorithms used in coding.
Me : Told.
This time I was very confident and smiling without any fear.
Then he asked me some HR questions like why M.Tech, why Infosys, why VJTI, what are the challenges have you faced in your life etc etc.
I told each and every answers confidently and I was fully prepared for this type of questions then he asked me any question to me?
Me : What are the challenges for coders in Infosys?
HR : Told but I was little bit confused.
HR : Any other question?
Me : Where do I need to improve myself?
HR: He told me the same answer.
After this he said, "you can go now and it was very nice talking to you Pankaj".
I smiled and said thank you.
Overall it was a good experience. You are not required to answer every questions correctly. You may not even answer, if you are not aware of it and simply say Sir, I can't recall it right now.
But, be confident and be sure that what you answer is 100% correct.
Finally on 22nd October 2014, our TPO displayed selected candidates list on notice board in morning and my name was there.
Out of 64 eligible students for interview, 46 were selected.
